Mindfulness - Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

This course has been proven to help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. It combines meditation techniques with cognitive behavioural skills and mindful movement and is taught in a way that is practical and relevant for everyday living. It is based on the MBSR course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre, and the MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) course developed by Segal, Williams and Teasdale.

Participants learn how to:

Become more ‘awake’ to the present moment
Become less caught up in negative thoughts
Respond more wisely to stressful situations
Become more ‘at home’ with physical sensations, feelings and emotions
Achieve improved concentration and increased confidence
Achieve greater calm and inner peace

You do not have to be stressed or ill to benefit from the course. You may simply be looking to bring about a greater sense of ease and contentment in your life.

We currently run courses in Wilmslow and Knutsford.

Course fees include all course materials (downloads and handouts) and ongoing support from course leaders throughout the program.

All courses require home practice (between 40mins – 1 hour per day, for 6 days per week) to ensure that participants gain the most benefit. All you need to bring to the course is a yoga mat and it’s best to wear comfortable clothes.

MBSR Option 1

This course involves eight 2-hour sessions at weekly intervals, usually held in the evening. Towards the end of the course there is also a half- day practice held on a Saturday or Sunday.

MBSR Option 2

This course involves four 4-hour sessions at fortnightly intervals, usually held on a Sunday afternoon.

Once the course is completed there will be the opportunity to take part in regular half- days of mindfulness with others to help maintain your practice.

One-to-One Mindfulness Training

If you prefer to learn mindfulness on a one- to- one basis, we can also offer this option. This involves 8 sessions of 1.5hrs to 2hrs, preferably on a weekly basis, but with built-in flexibility to accommodate your schedule. Venue by arrangement.

Group Talks

We also offer Group Talks and Taster Sessions to enable those interested to get the feel of what Mindfulness is all about. Taster events are listed on the Programme page of this web site. If you would you’d like to arrange a Taster event for your company or organisation then please contact us by phone or e-mail.

Payment of course fees and Cancellation Policy:

A deposit of £50.00 is required to secure a place on the course at the time of booking, along with your completed application form. The deposit is non-refundable.  Full payment is required at least two weeks prior to the start of the course. In the event that you are unable to attend we will refund payment less a £50.00 administration fee. However, cancellations made less than 2 weeks prior to the course start date will not be refunded, but places can be transferred to the next available course. Payment can be made by cash or cheque or PayPal.
